For decades upon decades the U.S has been facing a parental health crisis by way of maternal and infant morbitity and mortality rates affecting Black birthing people and their babies 3-12x more often than their white counterparts. Little to no maternal, paternal or parental leave. Racism within the medical industrial complex (and others) has been causing these statistics.
Racism, homophobia, xenophobia, transphobia and abelism are just as present in the educational system as in the medical system. From the Deans, to instuctors and preceptors down to the black and white text in textbooks.
